Forged steel fittings are the fittings made by forged steel. Meets ASME B16.11, MSS-SP-79839597 and BS3799 standards. It is a connector in between nominal bore pipes. They are available as socket weld fittings or threaded fittings. Material conforms with carbon steel A105 and stainless steel SS316. Carbon steel cost lower, but stainless steel offers excellent protection against corrosion and rust.
Forged pipe fittings have higher strength and can withstand higher pressure.
The wall thickness is thicker than other type of fittings for threading process or machining to socket weld end.
How are forged pipe fitting made?
Forged steel fittings are made by cutting and heating billets, then pressing them under dies to form desired shapes, trimming, and shot blasting.
